Jamie Carragher: Man United star has improved by ‘two or three levels’
The Liverpool legend praises Paul Pogba's brilliant performances this season for Manchester United
Jamie Carragher believes Paul Pogba has significantly improved his performance at Manchester United this season.
The France international secured a return to Old Trafford in the 2016 summer transfer window after Jose Mourinho signed Pogba in an £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus.
Pogba scored five goals and made four assists in the Premier League last term to attract criticism of the Frenchman’s muted first season back at Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old has made a brilliant start to the current campaign after two goals and two assists in his opening four Premier League games.
However, Pogba suffered a serious hamstring problem to bring his excellent form to a half before he scored a goal and made an assist on his return to Premier League action in a 4-1 win over Newcastle United.
The former world-record signing produced a dominant performance in a 3-1 win at Arsenal last weekend with two assists before he was sent off for a reckless challenge on Hector Bellerin.
Pogba will be suspended for Manchester United’s home clash against Premier League leaders Manchester City at Old Trafford.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher heaped praise on Pogba for his improvement in the 2017-18 season.
“He has certainly upped his game two or three levels this season,” Carragher told Sky Sports on Sunday. “He is Manchester United’s best player.”
Pogba won the League Cup and the Europa League with Manchester United last term.
