The Spanish playmaker was in superb form for the Red Devils on Saturday evening as he scored either side of half-time to help Jose Mourinho’s men come from behind at the King Power Stadium.
Manchester United fell behind in the 27th minute when Jamie Vardy slotted home after a swift counter-attack from the home side.
However, Mata levelled before half-time when his low shot caught out Kasper Schmeichel.
And playmaker Mata then made it 2-1 in the 60th minute at the King Power Stadium when he fired home a brilliant free-kick.
But it was Leicester who had the final say when Harry Maguire slotted home from Marc Albrighton’s cross to earn a point for the home side.
Former Manchester United defender Neville was extremely impressed by Mata’s performance for the Red Devils against the Foxes and heaped praise on the former Chelsea playmaker after his quality free-kick.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “You needed someone with a delicate touch.
“It’s so difficult for Kasper Schmeichel. He couldn’t see the ball as soon as it came over that wall.
“It’s wonderful, delicate, cute – everything that you would want.
“If it’s on target and over that wall, the keeper’s always going to be in trouble, even if it goes towards the centre of the goal.
“It’s so good from Mata. Juan Mata delivers for Manchester United.”
Manchester United are next in Premier League action on Boxing Day when they host Burnley at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are now a staggering 13 points behind leaders Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.
