Jamie Redknapp has warned Jose Mourinho that Manchester United can’t afford to go toe-to-toe with Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils will welcome the Premier League leaders to the Theatre of Dreams looking to win an eighth successive home game in the top flight.

Manchester City are sitting eight points clear of second-placed Manchester United after 15 games following 13 successive Premier League victories.

The Citizens have scored 46 times in 15 games in the Premier League this term, which is 11 goals more than Manchester United.

Only Everton have managed to take points off Manchester City following a 1-1 draw at The Etihad in the second game of the 2017-18 season.

Manchester United lost 1-0 to defending Premier League champions Chelsea back in October a fortnight after a 2-1 loss to promoted side Huddersfield Town.

Former Liverpool FC midfielder Redknapp warned Mourinho that Manchester City will win emphatically if Manchester United look to adopt an attacking approach.

“If Man United try to go blow to blow with Man City, Man United will get destroyed. Man City know their system,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

Manchester City are looking to win their first Premier League title since pipping Liverpool to the top-flight crown in 2014.

Sir Alex Ferguson was the last Manchester United manager to win the Premier League back in 2013.
