Jose Mourinho not worried about Man United star’s form, claims ex-midfielder
The Man United legend insists Jose Mourinho won't be worried about Romelu Lukaku's form
Paul Ince believes Jose Mourinho won’t be worried about Romelu Lukaku’s poor form as long as the Manchester United striker is contributing up front.
The Red Devils will make the trip to Arsenal in their next Premier League game on Saturday evening in search of three points to keep the pressure on runaway leaders Manchester City.
Lukaku moved to the 20-time English champions in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window despite interest from former club Chelsea.
The 24-year-old scored 10 times in nine games to start his Manchester United career in scintillating style before the Red Devils striker endured a dip in form.
Indeed, Lukaku has only netted one goal in his last 10 games in all competitions to raise concerns about his mental strength ahead of Saturday’s trip to Arsenal.
Mourinho’s side have won their last two Premier League games despite Lukaku’s inability to find the net.
Former Manchester United midfielder Ince believes Lukaku’s form won’t be a concern for Mourinho.
“I don’t believe Lukaku, Mourinho or the team is worried. If he can perform without scoring goals, then great,” Ince told Paddy Power.
“If he’s on his game, he’ll score eventually when the chances come. But if he’s dwelling on it and consequently not sharp in his mind, he won’t take the chances that come his way.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson won the top flight crown in his final season in charge.
