The French midfielder re-joined the Premier League outfit in the summer of 2016 after Jose Mourinho made signing Pogba one of his transfer priorities at Old Trafford.
Pogba re-joined the Red Devils for a then world-record transfer fee as Mourinho moved quickly to bolster his new squad at the club.
Now, for the first time, Pogba has revealed that he was close to signing for Real Madrid from Juventus before he eventually settled on the idea of moving back to the Premier League outfit.
Speaking to the Beyond the Pitch podcast, Pogba said: “To be honest, Real Madrid came to me and I was thinking to go there, and I was thinking to go to Manchester United too.
“But I always felt it in my heart. My heart told me to come back here [Manchester], I don’t know why, I didn’t know what was going to happen.
“But I did it, and I don’t regret. I never regret my choice.”
Pogba has just served the second game of his three-match suspension after he was shown a straight red card in Manchester United’s 3-1 win at Arsenal earlier this month.
The midfielder is due to make his return from suspension when Manchester United take on Bristol City in the League Cup quarter-finals next week.
Manchester United are aiming to try and challenge for the Premier League title this season after they finished in sixth place in the table in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge last term.
