The France international was linked with a move to the La Liga giants in the summer transfer window but a deal failed to materialise.
Indeed, Griezmann opted to sign a new deal with Atletico Madrid despite flirting with the Premier League side following the conclusion of the 2016-17 season.
The 25-year-old cited Atletico’s transfer ban from Uefa as one of the driving forces behind his decision to show some loyalty to the Spanish side until Diego Simeone is free to sign new players in January.
Manchester United have continued to be linked with Griezmann but Barcelona are now involved in the race to sign the France striker next month.
According to Balague, Barcelona are willing to meet the striker’s €100m buy-out clause and the club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu has met with Griezmann’s family for lunch.
And Sky Sports’ La Liga expert rates Barcelona as favourites to sign the Atletico striker but insists Manchester United could still land Griezmann.
“Griezmann will leave next summer for either United or Barca, but the Catalans are favourites at this moment in time,” Balague told Sky Sports.
Griezmann has scored five goals and three assists in 13 appearances in La Liga in the current campaign.
Manchester United signed Romelu Lukaku in a £75m deal from Everton in the summer.
