Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to get back to winning ways in the Premier League by beating Burnley at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

The Red Devils head into the game looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after the disappointment of conceding a late equaliser during the 2-2 draw with Leicester on Saturday.

That result caused the Red Devils to lose further ground on Manchester City at the top of the table, with Pep Guardiola’s men now 13 points ahead of their bitter local rivals.

Manchester United will be seeking to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible on Boxing Day when they welcome Sean Dyche’s men to Old Trafford.

And former Liverpool FC and Red Devils star Owen is fully expecting to see the Red Devils claim all three points.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “United haven’t lost a home league game against Burnley since September 1962 although the Clarets did pick up a point at Old Trafford in the corresponding game last season.

“United have won 19 of their 23 Premier League games played on Boxing Day and they are a confident selection to improve that statistic despite the Clarets’ excellent season to date.”

Manchester United will aim to try and catch Manchester City in the race for the title this season, but even if they don’t, Mourinho’s men have made clear progress from their sixth-placed finish last term.

It also remains to be seen whether Manchester United will dip into the January transfer window as Mourinho considers bolstering his squad.
