Shay Given: Why summer Man United signing will score against Man City
Shay Given is backing Romelu Lukaku to score for Man United against Man City on Sunday
Shay Given is backing Romelu Lukaku to be amongst the scorers when Manchester United take on Manchester City in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Belgian striker has been getting used to life at Old Trafford after signing for the Red Devils from Everton in the summer transfer window.
Lukaku made a very strong initial start to life at Manchester United but has endured something of a goal drought in recent games.
Still, the 24-year-old has managed to score eight goals and make four assists in the Premier League for the Red Devils so far this season.
He will be hoping to start and find the net when Jose Mourinho’s men welcome their bitter Premier League rivals to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon following his goal against CSKA Moscow mid-week.
And former Manchester City goalkeeper Given is fully expecting to see Lukaku score at some point on Sunday afternoon in front of his club’s home fans.
Speaking in an interview with BetStars, Given said: “I’m going for Lukaku to score anytime.
“I think if there is a weakness with Man City, it’s defending set plays. I think with his power and strength in the air, he has a good chance.”
Manchester United head into the game fresh from having secured their place in the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners thanks to their 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils finished sixth in the table under Mourinho last term.
