Michael Owen is backing Tottenham to secure a comfortable victory over Apoel Nicosia in their final Champions League group game on Wednesday night.

Spurs have already booked their place in the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition after having been in good form this season in the Champions League.

The Lilywhites claimed a famous victory over Real Madrid at Wembley en route to the knockout phase.

Spurs host Apoel at Wembley in their final group game as they look to sign off with a victory for 2016.

And former Liverpool striker Owen is fully expecting to see the Lilywhites claim all three points in front of their home fans in north London on Wednesday night.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, ex-striker Owen said: “No Cypriot side has beaten English opposition in European competition and I can’t see Apoel bucking that trend at Wembley.

“Spurs have won their last three Champions League games at Wembley 3-1 but I expect Spurs to keep a clean sheet in a comfortable win, which will end a wonderful group stage for the north London outfit.”

Spurs will learn their opponents for the knockout phase of the Champions League when the last 16 draw is made in Nyon on 11 December.

The Lilywhites have suffered something of a dip in form in the Premier League in recent weeks, having only won one of their last five top-flight games.

Spurs will look to get their Premier League bid back on track when they host Stoke City at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
