Paul Merson states his prediction for Tottenham v Stoke
Paul Merson is tipping Tottenham to claim a 3-0 win over Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday
Paul Merson is tipping Tottenham to claim a 3-0 victory over Stoke City in the Premier League at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
The Lilywhites have been in stuttering form in recent weeks and have only won one of their last five games in the Premier League.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men have dropped out of the top four as a result, and they currently sit in sixth place in the table and 18 points behind leaders Manchester City heading into this weekend’s round of games.
Spurs will be desperate to return to winning ways this weekend when they host the Potters in north London.
And former Arsenal star Merson is fully expecting to see the Lilywhites claim all three points against the Potters this weekend.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, ex-Arsenal star Merson said: “On the big pitch I think Spurs will just have too much for Stoke.
“Against Swansea, Stoke fell over the line, but sometimes when you win a game like that, everything is rosy. However, on this big pitch, Tottenham are too good for Stoke.
“Tottenham need to win this game, otherwise they will be struggling for the top four.
“I think Mauricio Pochettino started off their poor run to be honest, when he took Harry Kane and Dele Alli off against Arsenal, when the game was still in the balance. Their performances have been nowhere near as good since.”
Tottenham are through to the last 16 of the Champions League after having impressed with victories over the likes of Real Madrid in the group stage.
The north London side will discover their opponents for the next round when the draw is made in Nyon next Monday.
Tottenham finished second in the Premier League table last season behind champions Chelsea.
