Michael Owen states his prediction for Watford v Tottenham
The Liverpool legend expects Tottenham to drop more points at Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon
Michael Owen is expecting Tottenham Hotspur to drop more points at Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs have fallen off the title race pace in recent weeks following a disappointing run of results in the English top flight.
Tottenham suffered a resounding 2-0 loss to bitter rivals Arsenal in the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium at the start of November.
Spurs dropped point in a 1-1 draw with West Brom at Wembley last weekend after Harry Kane scored a late equaliser at the home of English football.
Pochettino’s men lost 2-1 to 2015 champions Leicester City at the King Power Stadium mid-week despite Kane’s consolation goal to offer slight hope of a comeback.
Tottenham have tumbled down the Premier League table from level on points with second-placed Manchester United to seventh place behind Sean Dyche’s Burnley side.
Watford are in eighth place in the English top flight and three points adrift of Spurs following the north London side’s winless run.
Former Liverpool legend Owen is backing Watford to secure at least a point against Tottenham at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.
“Leicester put a dent in Spurs’ top four hopes midweek and Mauricio Pochettino’s side have already lost as many Premier League games (4) this term as they did in the whole of last season,” Owen told BetVictor.
“The Hornets have shipped ten goals at Vicarage Road against the two Manchester clubs in the Premier League this season although they improved in the second half against United midweek.
“Spurs are relying too heavily on Harry Kane for goals and if there is to be a winner at Vicarage Road, I think it might be the hosts.”
Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table in 2015-16 before securing a runners-up spot behind eventual champions Chelsea last term.
