Antonio Conte says that he is fully expecting to see Alexis Sanchez stay at Arsenal beyond the January transfer window.

The Chile international’s future has been a source of relentless speculation in recent months after he entered into the final stages of his contract at The Emirates.

Sanchez was heavily linked with a potential move to Manchester City in the summer months and has again been touted as a target for the Premier League leaders in the mid-season window.

Chelsea has also been named as a potential destination for the 29-year-old, although Conte has consistently denied reports that the Blues could be interested in signing the forward.

One thing is for sure, Sanchez’s future is certain to be a continual talking point until the end of the season unless his situation is resolved one way or another.

Conte is a big fan of the Chile star but is fully expecting Sanchez to stay at The Emirates until the end of the current campaign, when he would be able to leave the club on a free transfer.

Asked about Sanchez at his pre-match news conference at Cobham on Tuesday afternoon, Conte said: “For sure we are talking about an important player, about a good player.

“In my opinion, I think Sanchez will finish the season at Arsenal… this is my opinion, I don’t know.

“I don’t know what will happen during the transfer market this month because every team can rely on the transfer market to improve, to become more strong.”

Chelsea now switch their attentions towards preparing for their Premier League clash against Leicester City.
