Thierry Henry sends warning to Man City about Arsenal in League Cup final
The Arsenal legend warns Manchester City about the Gunners' recent record at Wembley against the Citizens
Thierry Henry believes Arsenal can be confident heading into the League Cup final given their record against Manchester City at Wembley.
The Gunners came from behind to secure a 2-1 win against defending Premier League champions Chelsea in the second leg of their semi-final clash.
Nacho Monreal and Granit Xhaka both scored deflected goals either side of half-time to overturn Eden Hazard’s opener and seal their place in the final.
Arsenal will come up against Manchester City in the showpiece having lost 3-1 to Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season.
However, Arsene Wenger’s men were 4-2 winners against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final last term, before beating Chelsea 2-1 in the final to win the competition for a third time in four season.
Arsenal beat the title holders in a penalty shootout in the Community Shield at the start of the season, too.
Former Gunners striker Henry is optimistic that Arsenal can cause Manchester City problems in the League Cup final.
“They’re going to have to play the mighty Man City but they beat them last year in the semi-final of the FA Cup at Wembley so they do have an advantage in cups over other teams at the minute,” Henry told Sky Sports.
Arsenal have never won the League Cup under Arsene Wenger and will be aiming to win the competition for just the third time.
The Gunners were 3-0 winners against Manchester City in the Community Shield back in 2014.
