Chris Sutton has ruled out Arsenal winning the Europa League this season.

The Gunners are facing a tough assignment finishing in the Premier League’s top four to secure a return to Europe’s top tier competition.

Indeed, Arsenal are five points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool FC, while Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all competing for the top-four spots.

Arsene Wenger’s side suffered the humiliation of a 4-2 loss to Championship side Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round at the weekend.

Arsenal’s poor form continue with a 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday despite taking the lead in the second half.

The north London side will take on Swedish outfit Ostersunds in the Europa League last 32 next month as the Gunners look to win the competition for the first time.

Arsenal can qualify for the Champions League if Wenger’s men win the competition just as Manchester United managed to do under Jose Mourinho last term.

Former Chelsea striker Sutton doesn’t believe Arsenal are good enough to win the Europa League.

“There are some big sides in the Europa League,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“It is all the eggs in one basket. I think it is a big ask for Arsenal to win the Europa League.”

Arsenal have won four FA Cup titles in their last five seasons at Wembley.

Wenger’s side were 2-1 winners against defending Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley last term.
