Gary Lineker responds to Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Crystal Palace without Alexis Sanchez
Gary Lineker has his say after Arsenal's thumping 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the absence of Alexis Sanchez
Gary Lineker has taken to social media to poke fun at the importance of Alexis Sanchez’s impending Arsenal exit after the Gunners’ 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Sanchez is widely expecting to sign for Manchester United in the January transfer window and the Chilean was left out of the Gunners squad for Saturday’s home game against the Eagles.
However, the north London side did not appear to struggle up front during the game.
Nacho Monreal opened the scoring in the sixth minute at The Emirates, before Alex Iwobi made it 2-0 shortly after.
Laurent Koscielny made it 3-0 to the home side just three minutes later, and Alexandre Lacazette netted in the 22nd minute to wrap up the three points for the home side before half-time.
Palace did pull a goal back in the second half through Luka Milivojevic, but the Gunners held on to claim all three points.
Lineker was clearly feeling in a playful mood and took to Twitter after Arsenal made their rampant start: “Arsenal are struggling to cope without Sanchez. It’s taken them 14 minutes to score 3.”
Arsenal will now switch their attentions back towards League Cup affairs and their home clash against Chelsea in the semi-finals on Wednesday night.
