Arsene Wenger states his prediction for Arsenal v Chelsea FC
Arsene Wenger is tipping Wednesday's clash with Chelsea FC in the League Cup semi-final to be a thrilling game
Arsene Wenger is predicting an “open” game when Arsenal host Chelsea FC in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final clash on Wednesday night.
The two London sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg at Stamford Bridge earlier this month to leave the tie finely poised ahead of the second game.
Chelsea FC warmed up for the game with an impressive 4-0 win over Brighton in the Premier League at the weekend, while Arsenal were 4-1 winners over Crystal Palace.
Arsenal and Chelsea FC played out a thrilling 2-2 draw when the two sides last met in the Premier League at The Emirates at the start of the month.
And Wenger is tipping Wednesday’s clash in north London to be a spectacular affair as the two local rivals do battle for a place in the Wembley final.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Tuesday morning, Wenger said: “It’s an important game for us. We want to get to the final. The two teams know each very well.”
“The second leg will certainly be more open, it should be much spectacular than the first one.”
Arsenal confirmed the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United on Monday as part of the deal which saw Alexis Sanchez head in the other direction to Old Trafford.
However, Mkhitaryan will not be available for Wednesday’s game because he has already featured in the League Cup for Manchester United this season.
