Arsene Wenger has insisted that Arsenal remain in the market to sign more players in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as the mid-season window gives Wenger the chance to bolster his squad ahead of the second half of the campaign.

Arsenal have already signed young Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina as Wenger landed his first recruit of the window.

There continues to be uncertainty about the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal, with both players’ contracts set to expire in the summer.

Wenger watched his Arsenal side be dumped out of the FA Cup after a 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest in the third round at the City Ground on Sunday.

And the Frenchman was asked to deliver an update on the possibility of their being some new signings at The Emirates this month after the game.

Wenger told his post-match news conference: “No, I cannot give you any news on any transfer because we are not close to signing anybody.

“We signed a Greek boy [Mavropanos] who looks quite good in training but, apart from that, we have not done anything.

“Will we be out there to do something? Yes, we will.”

Arsenal are now preparing for the first leg of their League Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The Gunners are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification this season.
