Arsene Wenger drops hint about January signings at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger delivers the latest updates on Arsenal's search for new signings in January
Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is hoping for some swift January transfer business at Arsenal.
The Gunners completed their first official signing of the mid-season window last week when they tied up a deal to land 20-year-old Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina.
Arsenal are bound to be linked with a host of other players in the coming weeks and days, especially with the Gunners languishing down in sixth place in the Premier League table.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will use the January transfer window as a chance to significantly bolster their squad.
However, Wenger has now dropped a hint that the Gunners could well be active in the coming days as the Frenchman looks to add to his squad following their disappointing FA Cup exit against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Asked if he is hopeful of any transfer developments this week, Wenger told his post-match news conference on Sunday: “Yes, because we are in the second week of January. After that, it passes quickly.”
Arsenal must now dust themselves down after their FA Cup exit and turn their attentions towards the first leg of their crunch League Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The two sides played out a 2-2 draw at The Emirates in the Premier League last week.
