Arsenal will have to bid more than £25m to sign proven 30-year-old this month – report
Arsenal will have to pay more than £25m to sign Jonny Evans this month, say reports
Arsenal will have to shell out more than £25m if they want to sign Jonny Evans from West Brom in the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the north London side have been talking to West Brom about the possibility of signing the 30-year-old defender for the last fortnight as the transfer deadline approaches.
The same report says that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger sees Evans as the “ideal” man to bring composure to his defence at The Emirates.
However, it is now claimed in the same story that West Brom are dragging their heels and will demand a fee of £27m to sell Evans before the deadline next week.
The same story says that the Gunners have been trying hard to land Evans as well as Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
It is claimed in the same article that Arsenal have already put a £25m package together to try and sign Evans but it seems they will have to pay more to land the defender this month.
Meanwhile, Wenger is currently preparing his side for their Premier League trip to Swansea City on Tuesday night.
January signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan could make his debut for the north London club at the Liberty Stadium following his move from Manchester United.
