Ian Wright has admitted that he has been “baffled” by Arsene Wenger’s decision not to play Sead Kolasinac for Arsenal in recent games.

It is not clear whether the Bosnia-Herzegovina international has picked up a small injury or not but he has not featured for the Gunners at all this year so far.

The 24-year-old was named on the bench for Arsenal during their 2-1 loss to Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend.

Kolasinac signed for Arsenal from German side Schalke in the summer transfer window and has made 17 Premier League starts for the Gunners so far this season.

However, his last appearance for the north London side came during the 1-1 draw with West Brom on New Year’s Eve.

And Arsenal legend Wright has not been at all happy to see Kolasinac out of the side in recent games, although he admits that he isn’t sure if he’s been struggling with an injury problem or not.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Wright said: “What’s Kolasinac doing? Is he injured? Why aren’t you playing Kolasinac?

“I’d rather play Kolasinac at left-back and put Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the middle and have a run in a position where he is more familiar with next to Jack Wilshere.

“Why isn’t he playing Kolasinac? It’s just baffling.”

Arsenal will aim to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Crystal Palace at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners are currently in sixth place in the table and eight points adrift of the top four.
