Jack Wilshere sends warning to Arsenal about Liverpool FC
Jack Wilshere discusses Arsenal's opens of catching Liverpool FC in the race for a top-four finish
Jack Wilshere has warned Arsenal that they will have to step their game up if they want to beat Liverpool FC to a top-four finish this season.
The Gunners lost further ground on their top-four rivals on Wednesday night when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Chelsea in a thrilling game at The Emirates.
That result left Arsenal in sixth place in the Premier League table and five points behind Liverpool FC, who currently occupy fourth place.
Liverpool FC have been in good form in recent weeks and have won four of their last five games in the top flight, their only dropped points coming in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal at The Emirates last month.
Arsenal will clearly need to improve their results and hope that Liverpool FC drop points in the coming months as the race for Champions League qualification hots up once again.
And Wilshere has warned the Gunners that they need to be more consistent and claim victories if they want to be competing for a top-four spot.
Speaking to Arsenal Player after Wednesday’s game, Wilshere said: “Teams keep winning, you see Liverpool showing good character and finding two at the end, again we didn’t lose [against Chelsea] but we need to start picking up more points.
“We have a big game next week against Bournemouth, we need to get ready for that and we’ve got a couple of cup games in between, we’ll go again.”
Arsenal are aiming to break back into the top four this season after the Gunners finished in fifth place and had to settle for Europa League football this term.
