Thierry Henry has lavished praise on Nacho Monreal following his brilliant form for Arsenal so far this season.

The Spanish defender has been earning plenty of new admirers following his sparkling displays for the Gunners and he was named as the man of the match in Arsenal’s League Cup semi-final victory over Chelsea FC on Wednesday night.

Monreal has scored three goals and made two assists in the Premier League for the Gunners so far this term and his top displays have not gone unnoticed.

The 31-year-old was once again in fine form as he helped Arsenal beat Chelsea in the League Cup on Wednesday night.

And Arsenal legend Henry has been delighted by Monreal’s fine form for the Gunners so far this season.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of Wednesday’s game, Henry said: “He has done very well since he arrived at Arsenal.

“He’s not a guy we talk about often but he’s one of those players who you know, as a player, is important.

“Maybe the fans won’t sing his name too much and talk about him a lot but he does his job, he’s professional.

“He’s a type of guy where whatever you ask him to do, he will do it. I’m very happy for him.”

Monreal will be expecting to start for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action on Tuesday night with a trip to Swansea City.

The north London side are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and break back into the top four this season following their fifth-placed finish last term.

Arsenal were forced to settle for a place in the Europa League this term.
