Jamie Redknapp tells Arsenal to sign quality 28-year-old attacker
Jamie Redknapp urges Arsenal to make a move to try and sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this month
Jamie Redknapp has urged Arsenal to complete a deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund this month.
The north London side have been heavily linked with a move to land the 28-year-old Gabon international as Arsene Wenger looks to try and further strengthen his attacking options this month.
Arsenal have already completed a deal to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United as part of the same transfer which saw Alexis Sanchez head to Old Trafford.
Now, it remains to be seen whether the north London side will bring in any more players this month before the close of the January transfer window next week.
Aubameyang looks to be a target for the Gunners this month and Redknapp believes his arrival will provide the Gunners with a big lift before the League Cup final against Manchester City next month.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Wednesday night, Redknapp said: “If they get Aubameyang in before that [League Cup] final, he’ll give everybody a huge lift.
“You look at the team, from the doom and gloom a few weeks ago, you’ve got Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang, Ozil – it doesn’t look too bad going forwards.”
Arsenal now have the weekend off before preparing for their Premier League clash against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.
The north London side head into the game on the back of their impressive 2-1 comeback win over Chelsea at The Emirates in the League Cup semi-finals on Wednesday night.
