Arsenal are prepared to meet Cristian Pavon’s £27m release clause, according to reports in Argentina.

TyC Sports, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Arsene Wenger is ready to push through a deal to sign the 21-year-old in the January transfer window.

The same story suggests that Wenger wants to wrap up the deal swiftly to ensure Arsenal have a replacement for Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez.

According to the same article, the Gunners will meet Pavon’s contract release clause to ensure a deal is wrapped up without any complications.

The Argentina international has earned a promising reputation in South America to attract interest from Premier League duo Liverpool FC and Manchester City, as well as Serie A champions Juventus.

Pavon made his debut for the Argentina national team in 2017 when he provided an assist for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero against 2018 World Cup hosts Russia.

Metro reports that the 21-year-old South American is capable of playing in a central role or on the wing.

Arsenal were initially linked with a move to sign France international from defending Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco.

Sanchez has been regularly linked with a move to Manchester City over the past 12 months or so.
