Arsenal’s £43.6m bid for 28-year-old ‘immediately rejected’ – report
Arsenal have had a £43.6m for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rejected by Borussia Dortmund, say reports
Arsenal have had a fresh bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rejected by Borussia Dortmund, according to reports in the British media.
BBC Sport is reporting that the Gunners made a second bid for the 28-year-old striker worth around €50m (£43.64m) but the offer was immediately turned down by the Bundesliga club.
The same report says that Dortmund are likely to only consider selling Aubameyang for a bid of at least £50m.
The story claims that Olivier Giroud has been touted as a possible makeweight in the proposed deal but Wednesday’s bid was a cash-only offer.
The article says that Arsenal must now decide whether to up their bid or pursue other transfer targets this month before next week’s deadline.
Aubameyang has been in good form for Dortmund so far this season and has scored 13 goals and made three assists in 15 Bundesliga games for the German side.
Meanwhile, Arsenal booked their place in the League Cup final against Manchester City thanks to an impressive 2-1 comeback win over Chelsea at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
Arsene Wenger’s men return to Premier League action on Tuesday with a trip to Swansea City as they look to try and get back into the top four before the season is out.
