Reporter reveals Arsenal considering top 28-year-old striker to replace Alexis Sanchez
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol confirms Arsenal want to sign Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang to replace Alexis Sanchez
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a potential option to replace Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal, according to reporter Kaveh Solhekol.
Arsenal could have a void to fill in Arsene Wenger’s team in the coming month as Sanchez edges closer to a January move to Manchester City or Manchester United in the current transfer window.
The Borussia Dortmund striker has been linked with a move to the Premier League on a number of occasions over the past few seasons following the Gabon international’s prolific form in the Bundesliga.
The 28-year-old striker was named as a potential target for Liverpool FC in recent years following his past working relationship with Jurgen Klopp, while Chelsea has been listed as another potential destination for Aubameyang.
The African forward has netted 141 times in 242 times in all competitions during his five-season spell at the German club to establish himself as one of Europe’s top strikers under Jurgen Klopp.
Arsenal signed another of Europe’s top goal-scorers Alexandre Lacazette in a £52m club record deal last summer.
However, Wenger could face a conundrum finding room for both Aubameyang and Lacazette in the same Arsenal starting line-up given they are both out-and-out strikers.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol confirmed that Aubameyang is a potential target to replace Sanchez.
“Another option for Arsenal is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Monday.
“He was left out of Borussia Dortmund’s squad for the game against Wolfsburg on Sunday because he missed a team meeting on Saturday. Aubameyang, who is one of the most prolific strikers in world football, has been unhappy at Dortmund for some time.”
