Henrikh Mkhitaryan reacts to Arsenal move on Instagram
The new Arsenal signing describes completing a move to the Emirates Stadium as a "dream come true"
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has described completed a move to Arsenal as a “dream come true”.
The Gunners completed the signing of the Armenia international in a swap deal with Manchester United involving Alexis Sanchez on Monday evening.
Mkhitaryan will be tasked with filling the void left by Sanchez in the Arsenal team following the South American’s brilliant performances for the Gunners over the past three and a half seasons.
The Armenia international struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Manchester United team under Jose Mourinho, who regularly criticised the talented but inconsistent playmaker.
The former Borussia Dortmund playmaker moved to Old Trafford in a £30m deal in the 2016 summer transfer window having been previously linked with Arsenal and Liverpool FC.
And Mkhitaryan was thrilled to get the chance to play for the club that the 29-year-old supported as a boy.
The Arsenal signing posted the above photo on Instagram, which included a quote that read:
“I always loved the way Arsenal played as a team and the way Arsene Wenger managed the team… I was in love with the game of Thierry Henry.”
In his caption to accompany the snap, Mkhitaryan added:
“Dream come true @arsenal”
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when Thierry Henry was in his pomp.
The Gunners are in sixth place in the Premier League table.
