Thierry Henry: My thoughts on Arsenal bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Thierry Henry discusses the reports linking Arsenal with a move to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund
Thierry Henry has backed Arsenal’s reported bid to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund this month.
The north London side have been heavily linked with a move to try and sign the 28-year-old attacker from the German side as Arsene Wenger looks to further bolster his attacking options at The Emirates this month.
Arsenal have already completed a deal to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United this month as part of the move for Alexis Sanchez to move to Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will succeed in signing the Gabon international this month, but it seems that Henry would approve of seeing him move to The Emirates before next week’s deadline.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Wednesday night, Henry said: “We’re talking about Aubameyang – we don’t know if he’s going to come or not.
“[But] Aubameyang will bring you goals, runs in behind, and charisma. He would be a good addition to the team.”
Henry was speaking after watching Arsenal book their place in the League Cup final with an impressive comeback win over Chelsea at The Emirates.
The north London side will now take on Manchester City in the showpiece at Wembley on 25 February as they look to try and win the trophy for the first time under Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal return to action with a trip to Swansea City in the Premier League next Tuesday night.
