Arsenal make new bid to sign proven Premier League star – report
Arsenal have offered cash plus Mathieu Debuchy to sign Jonny Evans from West Brom, say reports
Arsenal have made a new cash-plus-player bid to sign Jonny Evans from West Brom including Mathieu Debuchy, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that the north London side have made a new offer for the 30-year-old defender including £10m and Frenchman Debuchy in a bid to try and tempt West Brom into doing business this month.
The same report says that Manchester City were also tracking Evans but have now appeared to have shifted their attentions towards signing Aymeric Laporte instead.
The article also claims that the defender has a relegation clause in his current contract with the Baggies, meaning that he could leave for as little as £3m if they go down this season.
The Northern Ireland international has just 18 months left on his contract with the Baggies after having joined them from Manchester United back in 2015.
The same story also carries quotes from West Brom boss Alan Pardew, who admits that the club’s financial situation is very tight and that indicates a deal could be on.
Meanwhile, new Arsenal signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be in line to make his debut for his new club when they take on Swansea City in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
