Arsenal want to make proven 30-year-old their next January signing – report
Arsenal are keen on a move to sign defender Jonny Evans from West Brom this month, say reports
Jonny Evans is at the top of Arsenal’s transfer wishlist this month as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his defence at The Emirates, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the West Brom defender has emerged as Wenger’s prime target this month as the Frenchman looks to strengthen his options at the back at The Emirates.
Arsenal have already been busy this month and finally secured the signature of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United on Monday as part of the deal which saw Alexis Sanchez move to Old Trafford.
The same report says that Evans is valued at around £20m by West Brom but because he only has 18 months left on his current contract at The Hawthorns, he could leave for as little as £3m in the summer.
The story says that Arsenal have been “back in touch” with West Brom about the possibility of signing Evans this month.
The article also says that Mainz defender Abdou Diallo is another potential defensive recruit for the north London side in the January transfer window.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently preparing to return to Premier League action and their trip to Swansea City next Tuesday night.
The Gunners are looking to break back into the top four this season after their fifth-placed finish last term.
