Insider warns Arsenal preferred target to replace Alexis Sanchez will cost £50m
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol reveals Arsenal will have to pay £50m to sign Bordeaux striker Malcolm
Kaveh Solhekol has warned Arsenal that Bordeaux striker Malcolm will cost around £50m to sign in the January transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with a move to sign the Brazilian forward from the Ligue 1 side ahead of Sanchez’s speculated move to Premier League leaders Manchester City.
The Chile international is rumoured to be keen on a move to Pep Guardiola’s side after a proposed deal fell through in the summer when Arsenal couldn’t sign a replacement.
Malcolm has scored seven times and has made two assists in an otherwise disappointing season for Bordeaux so far.
The 20-year-old has featured for Brazil’s Under-20 and Under-23 side but still hasn’t made an appearance for the senior team despite his impressive performances in France.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol confirmed that Arsenal are interested in the Bordeuax striker but warned the Ligue 1 club are hoping to obtain a transfer fee in the region of £50m for Malcolm.
“There’s no way Arsenal are going to lose players like Sanchez and Walcott without lining up replacements,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Thursday.
“One of their live targets is Bordeaux’s Brazilian winger Malcom. He’s been tracked by some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Bordeaux want close to £50m for the 20-year-old.”
Arsenal played out a goalless draw with the defending Premier League champions Chelsea in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.
The Gunners suffered a chastening 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round last weekend.
