Reporter gives latest Arsenal transfer update on 20-year-old Brazilian striker
Sky Sports News reporter Aidan Magee reveals Arsenal haven't made contact with Bordeaux about their Brazilian talent Malcolm
Arsenal haven’t been in touch with Bordeaux about their exciting 20-year-old Brazilian talent Malcolm, according to reporter Aidan Magee.
Some reports on Wednesday suggested that Arsenal had made contact with the Ligue 1 side about the possibility of signing the South American forward.
The 20-year-old scored 15 times in 67 games in Ligue 1 over the past three seasons following his move to Bordeaux as a prodigious teenager in 2015.
Malcolm has plenty of first-team experience under his belt following a two-season stint at Brazilian club Corinthians before his successful move to Bordeaux.
Arsenal are in the market to sign a new striker following the uncertainty surrounding Alexis Sanchez’s long-term future at the north London club.
Sky Sports News reporter Magee has revealed that Arsenal haven’t contacted the French side to enquire about Malcolm despite reports in the media.
“There are reports that Arsenal are in discussions with Bordeaux over the signing of Malcom, whose valued by the French club at around £44m,” Magee told Sky Sports News on Wednesday.
“The Brazilian revealed on social media that he’s learning English. There’s been no information relayed to us though, that Arsenal have entered any talks.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League for the first time under Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners signed Alexandre Lacazette in a club record £52m deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal suffered a surprise 4-2 loss to Championship side Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round last weekend.
