Arsene Wenger replies when asked if Arsenal are signing 20-year-old Brazilian
Arsene Wenger reacts to the speculation linking Arsenal with a move to sign Malcom from Bordeaux this month
Arsene Wenger has played down the speculation linking Arsenal with a January transfer move to sign Malcom from Bordeaux.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move to land the 20-year-old Brazilian in recent days as Wenger considers bolstering his squad at The Emirates this month.
It has been suggested that Malcom could be a serious target for Arsenal this month should Alexis Sanchez leave the club in the January transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will officially make a move to sign Malcom this month, or indeed whether Sanchez will remain as a Gunners player until the end of the season or not.
But Wenger remained typically coy when quizzed about the speculation linking Arsenal with a move for Malcom on Friday morning.
Asked about the talk of Arsenal potentially signing Malcom, Wenger told a news conference at London Colney on Friday morning: “He’s a good player but at the moment, there as well nothing is happening
“We are not on that case at the moment.”
Arsenal are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The north London side are in sixth place as they bid to try and break back into the top four this season after their disappointing fifth-placed finish last term under Wenger.
