Gary Neville reveals how much Arsene Wenger will need to spend to replace Arsenal pair
The Man United legend claims replacing Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will cost Arsenal around £200m
Gary Neville has warned Arsene Wenger that Arsenal will have to spend at least 200m to replace Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The Gunners duo have less than six months remaining on their current deals at the north London club to throw up the possibility of the pair leaving for nothing next summer.
Alternatively, Arsenal could decide to offload Ozil and Sanchez in January in cut-price deals to at least secure some return for their initial 77.5m investment in the duo.
Both Ozil and Sanchez have managed to recover some of their form in recent weeks ahead of the January transfer window.
Ozil has been linked with a potential move to Manchester United where his former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is currently in charge.
Sanchez, meanwhile, is a reported target for Premier League leaders Manchester City, having missed out on a move last summer.
Former Manchester United defender Neville believes in the current market replacing Ozil and Sanchez will cost in excess of 200m.
“There is talk of Sanchez going to Man City – that will be in his mind,” Neville told his Sky Sports podcast.
“You have to throw it forward to the summer. If they do leave, they will leave a huge hole. If you think of how prices have gone and how much Arsenal paid for them, it is going to cost them at least £200m to replace them.”
Arsenal signed Ozil in a £42.5m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the 2013 summer transfer window.
Less than 12 months later, the Gunners secured Sanchez’s signature in a 35m transfer from Barcelona.
