Sky Sports reporter: Arsenal close to £55m ‘compromise’ deal for top 28-year-old striker
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol claims that Arsenal are very close to concluding a £55m deal to sign Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Arsenal have managed to reach a compromise with Borussia Dortmund and are closing in on the £55m signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reporter Kaveh Solhekol.
The Gabon international has emerged as Arsenal’s top target to fill Alexis Sanchez’s void since the Chile international completed a move to Manchester United earlier this month.
However, the Gunners have struggled to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga outfit for the 28-year-old valued at around £60m by his current employers.
Arsenal, though, have added an additional £5m to their initial offer of £50m to edge closer to what would be a club-record deal to sign the prolific Bundesliga striker.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol claimed that Arsenal won’t have any issues when it comes to agreeing personal terms with the 28-year-old striker.
“We start with Arsenal and they are close to signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Monday morning.
“It looks like the deadlock has been broken. Dortmund wanted £60m, Arsenal were offering about £50m. A compromise deal is close to being agreed, with Arsenal paying about £55m.
“Aubameyang played for Dortmund on Saturday but he wants to move to Arsenal. Personal terms should not be an issue.”
Aubameyang has scored 141 goals in 213 appearances in all competitions during his four and a half seasons at Borussia Dortmund.
The African forward has earned a reputation as a controversial figure at Westfalenstadion after being punished for disciplinary problems under his last two managers.
Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp was responsible for bringing Aubameyang to Dortmund from Saint-Etienne in 2013.
Arsenal signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United as part of the swap deal that saw Sanchez move to Old Trafford in January.
