Guillem Balague gives latest Arsenal transfer update on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The Spanish football expert claims Arsenal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang aren't close to reaching an agreement
Guillem Balague has claimed that Arsenal will need to cough up another £10m to reach an agreement to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.
The Gunners have been heavily linked to sign the Gabon international from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window.
The north London side completed a swap deal with Manchester United earlier this week as Alexis Sanchez moved to Old Trafford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined the Gunners.
However, Sanchez’s exit means that Arsenal are still short on options up front given the Chile international scored 24 times in 38 games in the Premier League last term.
Aubameyang has emerged as the top target to replace Sanchez at The Emirates in the January transfer window given his contentious relationship with current employers Borussia Dortmund.
But Sky Sports News’s Spanish football expert Balague revealed that Arsenal and Aubameyang are a distance apart in their contract negotiations.
“It seems like the differences between Aubameyang and Arsenal are very, very big,” said Balague, speaking on his YouTube channel.
“Things don’t seem to be moving on right now so no final decision has been made on either part.
“They are miles away and it seems like unless Arsenal put on the table more money, and I’ve heard it is around €10m difference, then things may not happen.”
Aubameyang scored 141 goals in 212 games in all competitions during his five-season stint at the Westfalenstadion.
Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table but a mere five points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool FC.
The Gunners crashed out of the FA Cup earlier this month following a 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round.
