The Daily Mail is reporting that the Gunners are “discussing” a deal to land the Gabon international, who is one of the most highly-rated attackers in European football.
The same report says that the north London side are now pressing ahead with a move to try and sign Aubameyang as a result of the Alexis Sanchez situation.
The story says that Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat believes that a change of club would bring the best out of the 28-year-old striker, despite Arsene Wenger having reservations about him.
Aubameyang has been in fine form for Dortmund so far this season, scoring 13 goals and making three assists in 15 Bundesliga games for the German club.
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements after a shaky first half of the season for Wenger’s men.
The Gunners are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of the top four as they seek Champions League qualification.
The north London side have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
