Arsenal will in talks to make 28-year-old striker club record signing – report
Arsenal are looking to complete a deal to sign Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports
Arsenal are still working on a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
Sky Sports is reporting that the Gabon international remains a target for Arsenal despite Dortmund hitting out at “disrespectful” Arsene Wenger.
The 28-year-old would command a fee that would eclispe the club-record £52m deal to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in the summer, the same story states.
Arsenal’s much-criticised chief executive Ivan Gazidis is still in Germany looking to trash out terms to sign the African forward in the current transfer window.
The sense of urgency is heightened by Alexis Sanchez’s imminent move to Manchester United after the Red Devils managed to see off competition from Manchester City for the forward.
Aubameyang would certainly add a goal threat to Arsene Wenger’s team after 141 goals in 212 appearances in all competitions during a five-season stay at Westfalenstadion.
Arsenal are facing an uphill battle to secure a return to the Champions League after missing out in the current campaign following a fifth-placed finish last term.
The Gunners are currently in sixth spot in the table and eight points behind third-placed Chelsea.
Arsenal crashed out of the FA Cup earlier this month following a 4-2 loss to Championship side Nottingham Forest.
