Arsenal ready to offer striker in deal to sign quality 28-year-old – report
Arsenal are ready to offer Olivier Giroud to Borussia Dortmund as part of a deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, say reports
Arsenal are prepared to offer Olivier Giroud to Borussia Dortmund as part of a deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this month, according to reports in the British media.
The Independent is reporting that the Gunners are considering the possibility of offloading the France striker to try and sweeten the deal for Dortmund to sell the Gabon international.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 28-year-old Aubameyang in recent days, although Arsene Wenger stopped short of confirming the club’s interest last week.
The same report says Arsenal are in talks with Dortmund about the possibility of signing Aubameyang, with the German club initially demanding a transfer fee of as much as €70m.
The Gunners are reportedly not willing to pay that much and therefore are exploring other options, including the possibility of putting Giroud in as part of the deal.
The same report says that Dortmund, however, are understandably “reluctant” to lose their best striker in the mid-season transfer window.
Aubameyang has been in fine form so far this season, scoring 13 goals and making three assists in 15 Bundesliga games this term.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently preparing for their home Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
