Reporter provides latest Arsenal transfer update on exciting 22-year-old forward
Sky Sports News reporter Rob Dorsett says Monaco don't want to sell Arsenal target Thomas Lemar in the summer
Arsenal could be forced to wait until the summer to sign Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco, according to reporter Rob Dorsett.
The Gunners are looking to sign a forward to bolster Arsene Wenger’s attacking options given the uncertainty surrounding Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The Arsenal duo could leave the north London club at the end of the season on a free transfer unless the Gunners agree to cut-price deals in January.
Wenger made a move to sign France international Lemar in the summer and Arsenal were reported to have made a £92m bid for the 22-year-old on transfer deadline day.
However, the Monaco star turned down a potential move to the English capital amid reports that the rising France talent preferred a move to Liverpool FC.
Arsenal look set to be frustrated once again in the January transfer window as Monaco look to dig their heels in regarding their prized asset’s potential sale.
Sky Sports News reporter Dorsett revealed the Monaco hierarchy are unwilling to lose Lemar this month.
“What about Thomas Lemar? A bid was rejected from Arsenal on deadline day in the summer,” Dorsett told Sky Sports News on Tuesday.
“There was more than a glimmer of hope for the Gunners when Monaco’s vice-president told us that Lemar was likely to leave in the summer of 2018.
“But it looks like he’s digging his heels in and refusing to let the France international leave any sooner than that.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on the Champions League for the first time under Wenger.
