Mark Lawrenson predicts Burnley v Man United
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Manchester United's trip to Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday
Mark Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to keep the pressure up on Manchester City by beating Burnley 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Red Devils managed to successfully close the gap down to the Premier League leaders last Monday when they secured a 3-0 win over Stoke City to boost their hopes of trying to catch Pep Guardiola’s men.
Manchester United are still 12 points behind the Citizens but Jose Mourinho will be keen for his side to continue to keep the pressure up on the leaders.
Mourinho’s men travel to Turf Moor this weekend looking to make it back to back wins in the top flight and keep themselves in the hunt for the title.
And former Liverpool star Lawrenson is fully expecting to see the Red Devils claim all three points and keep their place in second in the table.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Alexis Sanchez could have joined Manchester United in time to feature in this game but, even if he hasn’t, his impending arrival will lift the rest of the United team.
“I don’t think it matters where Sanchez fits into the Arsenal side – he can play anywhere across the front three, so I don’t think that will be an issue.
“Throughout this whole transfer saga, his playing ability has never really been an issue, but we now know that money is a major concern.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place and won both the Europa League and League Cup last season as they managed to secure qualification for the Champions League.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge at Old Trafford in 2013.
