Chelsea FC are hoping to tie up a deal to sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal before Wednesday night’s transfer deadline, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Telegraph is claiming that the Blues have identified the France international as one of their top targets in the coming hours as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his strike-force in the mid-season transfer window.
The same report says that Michy Batshuayi could be on his way out of Chelsea FC as part of a deal for the striker to head to Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Giroud had previously been linked with Dortmund, but the same story says that Chelsea FC are poised to now bring the Arsenal striker to Stamford Bridge.
The 31-year-old forward is likely to want some regular game-time in the coming months as he bids to try and win a place in the France squad for this summer’s World Cup.
The striker has only started one Premier League game for Arsenal so far this season after having been hampered by injury in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their Premier League clash against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
