Chelsea FC are closing in on a deal to sign Roma duo Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri in a £44mm double deal, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Blues are pressing ahead with plans to sign the duo as Antonio Conte looks to further bolster his squad this month.

The same report says that former Manchester City striker Dzeko is open to a move to Stamford Bridge, with the 31-year-old reportedly having been a target for the Blues before his switch to the Serie A side.

The story also says that Brazilian left-back Emerson is also expected to travel to London this week to complete his move to Stamford Bridge.

It is claimed in the same article that the arrival of Emerson from Roma would signal the departures of Kenedy and Baba Rahman on loan deals until the end of the season.

Chelsea have already been busy in the January transfer window so far, after tying up a deal to land Ross Barkley from Everton at the turn of the year.

Meanwhile, the Blues are now preparing for the second leg of their League Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
