Chelsea FC enquire about making experienced striker their second January signing – report
Chelsea FC are interested in signing Peter Crouch from Stoke this month, according to reports
Chelsea FC have enquired about the possibility of signing Peter Crouch from Stoke City in the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the west London side are considering a surprise move to try and land the experienced striker this month as Antonio Conte looks to add a target man to his squad.
The 36-year-old striker is said to be one name on a list of January transfer targets that the west London side have put together to bolster their attacking options this month.
The same report says that list also included Andy Carroll, but the West Ham forward has been ruled out of action due to an ankle injury.
The story says that Chelsea FC would be seeking to sign Carroll on loan until the end of the season to help them challenge in four competitions this term.
Crouch only signed a one-year contract extension with Stoke back in November, a deal which includes the option of another year.
The same story says some of Chelsea’s other targets for a striker this month are Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke and Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are currently preparing for their trip to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.
