Conte sends message to Chelsea FC fans about Christensen ahead of Arsenal trip
Antonio Conte is expecting to see Andreas Christensen be fit for Chelsea FC's clash with Arsenal on Wednesday
Antonio Conte has said that he is expecting Andreas Christensen to be available for the second leg of Chelsea FC’s League Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
The defender was forced off in the second half of Chelsea’s 4-0 thrashing of Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday after suffering a nasty blow to the head.
The extent of the injury has yet to be officially confirmed but Conte seemed to think that the issue was a minor one and is fully expecting to see the Dane be available for selection for the trip to The Emirates on Wednesday night.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Conte said: “For Andreas it was a simple contusion.
“The referee asked him, no? This substitution. But honestly the player did not want to come off.
“When you have another player like David Luiz, yeah, I decided to make a change. The player is OK. He is available for the next game, for the next training.”
Chelsea’s win over Brighton was their first Premier League victory of 2018 and it lifted them up into third place in the table ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Swansea on Monday night.
The Blues are looking to gain revenge over Arsenal after the Gunners beat Chelsea in both the FA Cup final and Community Shield last year.
The two London sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg of their League Cup clash at Stamford Bridge earlier in the month.
