Dennis Wise: What I really think about Michy Batshuayi at Chelsea FC
Dennis Wise accuses Chelsea FC striker Michy Batshuayi of a poor performance against Arsenal in the League Cup
Dennis Wise accused Michy Batshuayi of “not doing anything” when he came on as a substitute in Chelsea FC’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal in the League Cup semi-finals on Wednesday night.
The Belgian striker has had his fair share of criticism this season after failing to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge even in the absence of first-choice forward Alvaro Morata.
The forward came on for the final 25 minutes of Wednesday’s semi-final clash against Arsenal but was unable to help Chelsea FC find an equaliser as they were dumped out by the Gunners.
Batshuayi has scored two goals in 12 Premier League appearances so far this season but has only started three of those games.
And it’s fair to say that Wise wasn’t particularly impressed by Batshuayi’s performance when he came on for the closing stages of Wednesday night’s game at The Emirates.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Wise said: “Batshuayi came on and he didn’t do anything.
“We were talking about crosses coming in and centre-forwards getting across people… he [Batshuayi] always seems to be behind them.”
Chelsea FC must now dust themselves down as they prepare for their FA Cup fourth-round clash against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues reached the final of last season’s competition but lost to Arsenal at Wembley back in May.
