Antonio Conte names three players who are the ‘future’ of Chelsea FC
Antonio Conte reveals his delight with the progress of Charly Musonda, Ethan Ampadu, and Dujon Sterling at Chelsea FC
Antonio Conte has described Charly Musonda, Ethan Ampadu, and Dujon Sterling as the “future” of Chelsea FC.
The trio were all named in the squad for Chelsea’s 4-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as Conte’s men picked up their first top-flight win of 2018.
Musonda came on in the closing stages of the game and set up Victor Moses for the Blues’ fourth goal with a superb lofted pass.
Ampadu, 17, has been earning plenty of praise for his mature performances in cup competitions this season after signing for Chelsea from Exeter City in the summer transfer window.
And 18-year-old defender Sterling will be also hoping to hold down a more regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge this season.
And Conte is clearly delighted by the abundance of young talent coming through at Chelsea during his second campaign in charge at the west London club.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Saturday afternoon, Conte said: “You could see on our bench there was Charly Musonda, and Ampadu, and Sterling.
“These are the present and the future of Chelsea. The club asks me to improve the young players, and I am doing this.
“Andreas Christensen is only 21 years old and he is playing every game. We are doing an important job for this club.”
Chelsea now turn their attentions back towards League Cup affairs and their trip to Arsenal for the second leg of their semi-final clash at The Emirates.
The two London sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago.
