Antonio Conte drops big hint about new Chelsea FC signing
Antonio Conte hints that Ross Barkley could be set to make his first Premier League appearance for Chelsea FC this weekend
Antonio Conte has hinted that Ross Barkley could be set to make his Chelsea FC debut when the Blues travel to Brighton on Saturday lunchtime.
The Blues head into the game looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after the disappointment of their goalless draw with Leicester City last weekend.
Barkley is still waiting to make his first appearance for Chelsea after signing for the Blues from Everton at the start of the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old has not featured at all yet this season due a serious hamstring injury.
However, Conte has now confirmed that Barkley will be included in the Chelsea squad to face Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking at a news conference at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground on Friday afternoon, Conte said: “Ross is in a good physical condition.
“I don’t know if during the game I will decide to give him the chance to play a part of the game or if I want to wait if the game doesn’t ask for this type of situation.
“He is in the squad and he has to continue to improve and to work with us and with our idea.”
Chelsea are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table after dropping below Liverpool FC following their win over Manchester City last weekend.
The Blues will return to League Cup action with the return leg of their semi-final clash against Arsenal at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
The west London side drew 0-0 with the Gunners in the first leg at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
