Chelsea FC want to sign 27-year-old Belgian attacker – report
Chelsea FC are considering a move to try and sign Christian Benteke on loan from Crystal Palace this month, say reports
Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing Christian Benteke on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the season, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Benteke is a January transfer target for Chelsea as Antonio Conte’s search for a new striker continues.
Chelsea have been linked with a number of attacking recruits this month but have so far only completed a deal to bring midfielder Ross Barkley to Stamford Bridge from Everton.
The same report says Conte is “desperate” to sign a target man this month and that Benteke is on a list of potential recruits for the Blues.
The story says that Chelsea would prefer to sign Benteke on loan until the end of the season, but Crystal Palace have no interest in a temporary switch.
The same article says that Andy Carroll, Edin Dzeko and Peter Crouch are among the other targets Chelsea have looked at in the January transfer window so far.
Benteke has scored one goal and made three assists in 17 Premier League games for Crystal Palace so far this season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are preparing for their trip to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.
