Alan Smith has claimed that opponents are “scared to death” of Eden Hazard after his sparkling display for Chelsea FC in their 4-0 win at Brighton on Saturday.

Hazard was back to his best on the south coast as he helped to inspire the west London side to the three points with a man of the match display.

The 27-year-old scored two of Chelsea’s four goals to help Antonio Conte’s men bounce back to winning ways in the top flight and move up to third place in the Premier League table.

And former Arsenal striker Smith was hugely impressed with what he saw from Hazard for Chelsea on the south coast on Saturday.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Smith said: “He has been head and shoulders above anybody else on that pitch.

“He’s got such confidence about his game. He makes it look so easy, Eden Hazard, and that’s what the top players do. Everybody’s scared to death of him.”

Hazard has scored eight goals and made two assists in 20 Premier League games for Chelsea so far this season.

Chelsea now switch their attentions back towards League Cup affairs and their crunch clash against Arsenal in the second leg of their semi-final clash at The Emirates on Wednesday night.

The two London sides played out a goalless draw when they met in the first leg at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
